Who we are
LocalLane is run by Mycelia LLC, an Oregon company. When we say “we” or “us,” that’s who we mean. When we say “you,” we mean you, and if you’re setting this up for a business, we mean the business too.
Questions about anything here: hello@locallane.app.
What LocalLane is
LocalLane is a directory of real local places, plus tools for running a business inside it. Your membership gets you a public page that works as your website, a listing on the map and in the directory, structured information so search engines and AI assistants can find you, and reviews. Depending on what you choose, it may also include a store, events, or the Desk.
Anyone can browse LocalLane without an account. You need a membership to have a place of your own.
Your account
You need an account to have a business page. Keep your login details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has them.
You must be at least 18 to hold an account.
Give us accurate information about your business. If you list something that isn’t yours, or claim a business you don’t run, we’ll remove it.
Your content stays yours
Everything you put on LocalLane belongs to you — your words, your photos, your products, your prices.
You give us permission to display it, which is the whole point of a public page. That permission covers showing your content on LocalLane, in the directory and map, and in the structured data we publish so search engines and AI assistants can find you. It ends when you remove the content or close your account, except that search engines may keep their own copies for a while, which is out of our hands.
We don’t claim ownership of anything you make. We don’t sell your content. We don’t use it to train models.
What you pay
Memberships are $9, $18, or $27 a month, depending on which parts you use. The Desk is $18 a month on its own. You can pay monthly or for a year at a time.
Payment is due before your page goes live. We charge the card you give us, on the same day each month or year until you cancel.
Prices can change. If they do, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before it affects you, and you can cancel instead.
If a payment fails, we’ll try again and let you know. If it keeps failing, your page comes down until it’s sorted. We don’t delete your content when this happens — it’s waiting for you when you come back.
What we never do with your money
We never take a cut of your sales. Not a percentage, not a fee, not ever.
If you sell through LocalLane, that happens through your own Stripe account. The money goes straight from your customer to you. It never passes through us and we never hold it. We can’t touch it, which is deliberate.
Cancelling
Cancel whenever you like, from your settings. Your membership runs to the end of the period you’ve paid for, and then stops.
You keep your domain. If you brought one, it’s yours. If you registered one through us, it’s yours. We don’t hold your name hostage.
You can export your content before you go.
We don’t do refunds for partial months, but if something has gone genuinely wrong, email us and we’ll sort it out like people.
Places we build before you arrive
Sometimes we build a page for a business before that business has an account, from information the business has already made public. If that’s happened to yours:
- It is not published. It isn’t indexed by search engines, it doesn’t appear in search results, and nothing on it is presented as words you said.
- You can have it, or you can have it gone. Either way, one email.
- We never charge you for something you didn’t ask for. It becomes yours only if you claim it and choose a membership.
If you’d like it taken down: hello@locallane.app, and it comes down.
Reviews
Reviews come from real people about real experiences.
You cannot buy a good review and you cannot pay to remove a bad one. We don’t offer that, we won’t offer it, and asking doesn’t change the answer. If a review breaks the rules below, tell us and we’ll look at it on the merits.
Don’t write reviews for your own business, don’t pay anyone to write them, and don’t write about a place you’ve never been.
Using LocalLane decently
Don’t impersonate anyone. Don’t post anything illegal, hateful, or harassing. Don’t upload things you don’t have the rights to. Don’t try to break into other people’s accounts. Don’t scrape the site or hammer it with automated requests. Don’t use LocalLane to advertise something that isn’t a real local business.
If you do these things we’ll remove the content, and if it’s serious or repeated we’ll close the account.
When things break
We try to keep LocalLane running and we will not always succeed. It’s provided as-is. We don’t promise it will never go down, never lose anything, or work perfectly on every device.
We’re not responsible for what happens between you and your customers. If you sell something through your page, that’s your sale, your product, your customer, and your responsibility.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before whatever went wrong.
Ending things
You can leave any time. We can close an account that breaks these terms, and we’ll tell you why.
Changes
We’ll update these terms sometimes. If a change matters, we’ll tell you before it takes effect. Carrying on using LocalLane after that means you’re fine with it.
Where this applies
Oregon law governs these terms, and disputes belong in the courts of Lane County, Oregon.
